The Music Corner: Gabrielle Aplin

I thought I'd try something a little different this week on wearelikelightning. Before makeup, music was my first love and I like to share the artists I love. So, starting today is The Music Corner let me know what you think in the comments below and feel free to leave any recommendations!

Meet Gabrielle Aplin. Yet to release her first album, she has taken the UK by storm. At the tender age of 20, she has toured with Charlie Simpson and Ed Sheeran as well as headlining 6 of her own UK tours. For some she appeared to be an overnight sensation when her version of ‘The Power of Love’ featured in last Christmas’s John Lewis Advert. She started off uploading covers and some original songs to YouTube almost 5 years ago and finally released her Acoustic EP as a digital download in 2010. She then went on to release Never Fade EP in 2011 and Home EP in 2012.

The Power of Love reached number 1 in the UK charts and her second single 'Please Don't Say You Love Me' reached number 6 and also appeared in E4's Made In Chelsea series.

She’s come such a long way since I saw her back in 2010. There was barely 20 people at that show and now she’s playing the acoustic tent at Glastonbury this summer. Her new single Panic Cord was originally released on her Never Fade EP but she’s re-recorded it with her band for her new album.

English Rain is set for release 13th May 2013. Pre-order it here.
Panic Cord will be released 6th May
