Nails: My Top 6

I've accumulated so much nail varnish recently that I thought I'd do a little rundown of my favourites. I couldn't whittle it down to 5 so here's my top 6!

As I'm typing this my naked nails are crying out for a bit of Aqua Cool. I've featured this recently as a Pay Day Polish and already it's been promoted to a favourite. A pretty close dupe for Essie's Bikini so Teeny which was so popular amongst bloggers a few months ago, this is a steal at £4.59 and more readily available.

Diamond Dust was a Christmas/ New Years Party Favourite last year. A much more grown up approach to glitter nails as it dries matte. Yes that's right a matte glitter polish. It's a smokey-bluey-grey shot through with your standard glitter particles and also some holographic hexagonals to create a beautiful multi textured polish.

I picked up a bottle of Gold Mine as I smashed my mini bottle of Ciates Twilight. I saw this and thought it would be a great and cheaper alternative for only £2.99. It's more grittier that Twilight which is good if you want a bit of texture to your polish.

Thigh High, my staple Christmas polish last year. A beautiful rich cranberry shot through with a very subtle shimmer. This polish instantly makes me feel made up and it's such a wearable colour - not just for Christmas.

Another recent Pay Day Polish, Vixen is the perfect winter shade. A deep berry that's both sophisticated and vampy.

Watermelon is a gorgeous rich green colour. I love the Barry M Gelly Polishes and they're not expensive either. I have two: Pomegranate and Watermelon. I think next on the list is Prickly Pear.

Top Five Festive Films

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all well.

It's now less than 2 weeks till Christmas; I've got my tree up, the scarf and mittens are out and I think it's about time to whip out the Christmas Films.

Top of my list, as it should be, is Irving Berlin's White Christmas.

I know this won't be for everyone but it's tradition in the Janes' Family household to watch every year on Christmas morning. *Queue groans from all the boys*

It's an oldie from 1954, the story centres around Bob Wallis (played by Bing Crosby) and Phil Davis (Danny Kaye) who go into show business together after the war. They receive a letter from an old army friend asking them to watch his sisters' act. Phil, after failing to set him up with countless showgirls, sees that Bob might have a thing for Betty (played by Rosemary Clooney) so he and Judy (Vera Ellen) take it upon themselves to give romance a little 'push'.

It's sweet, it's funny, full of beautiful dance sequences and great music. If you're a fan of old movies I insist you give this a watch, it's the most perfect and heartwarming way to spend your Christmas.

Next up is Home Alone.

I'm yet to meet a person who hasn't seen this. It's absolute genius. Macaulay Culkin gets left at home by accident over Christmas and becomes prey to two absolutely useless thieves. Make way for feathers, tar and bauble traps. The ultimate survival guide and the only Christmas film my boyfriend will watch... we'll see.

Third is Elf.

Such a fun film, featuring Will Ferrell and a blonde Zooey Deschanel. I think this is the most quoted Christmas film ever. I can't believe it's 9 years old already! Buddy the elf leaves the North Pole to find his biological father in New York only to find people don't believe in Santa Clause any more and has to try and restore Faith and Christmas Spirit for Santa to power up his sleigh.
It sounds ridiculous and it is but it's so wonderful at the same time.

4th on the list is It's a Wonderful Life. Another oldie but I only watched it for the first time last week.

A sad but sweet story about George (played by James Stewart) who falls on hard times despite all his hard work and efforts in helping out the people in his town. When his colleague looses all their money, Georges faces bankruptcy and jail time and falls into a drunken depression. Thinking suicide is the only way out, Clarence comes to the rescue and forces George to look back at all the wonderful things he has done for everyone and shows him the world without George to prove how valuable his life really is.

Lastly we have possibly the most watched film in our house.

Muppets Christmas Carol.
