Nails: My Top 6

I've accumulated so much nail varnish recently that I thought I'd do a little rundown of my favourites. I couldn't whittle it down to 5 so here's my top 6!

L-R: Rimmel Lycra Pro in Aqua Cool / Rimmel Precious Stones in 001 Diamond Dust / Barry M Gold Mine / Essie Thigh High / Revlon Vixen / Barry M Gelly Watermelon

2 coats of polish and no base coat

As I'm typing this my naked nails are crying out for a bit of Aqua Cool. I've featured this recently as a Pay Day Polish and already it's been promoted to a favourite. A pretty close dupe for Essie's Bikini so Teeny which was so popular amongst bloggers a few months ago, this is a steal at £4.59 and more readily available.

Diamond Dust was a Christmas/ New Years Party Favourite last year. A much more grown up approach to glitter nails as it dries matte. Yes that's right a matte glitter polish. It's a smokey-bluey-grey shot through with your standard glitter particles and also some holographic hexagonals to create a beautiful multi textured polish.

I picked up a bottle of Gold Mine as I smashed my mini bottle of Ciates Twilight. I saw this and thought it would be a great and cheaper alternative for only £2.99. It's more grittier that Twilight which is good if you want a bit of texture to your polish.

Thigh High, my staple Christmas polish last year. A beautiful rich cranberry shot through with a very subtle shimmer. This polish instantly makes me feel made up and it's such a wearable colour - not just for Christmas.

Another recent Pay Day Polish, Vixen is the perfect winter shade. A deep berry that's both sophisticated and vampy.

Watermelon is a gorgeous rich green colour. I love the Barry M Gelly Polishes and they're not expensive either. I have two: Pomegranate and Watermelon. I think next on the list is Prickly Pear.

What colours are you loving this month?

Pay Day Polish #3 Aqua Cool by Rimmel

This ladies and gentlemen, is Rimmel's Aqua Cool - guaranteed to brighten even the rainiest and darkest of days.

I have been coveting this for a while now and finally convinced myself to be brave and embrace the blue.

3 coats of polish does the trick for me and the nifty maxi brush allows for an easy, smooth finish.

Mini Post-Christmas Haul

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!

I'm already suffering from a Christmas comedown so yesterday my boyfriend and I treated ourselves to a little retail therapy.

Armed with our Christmas vouchers we headed into Reading, which is about half an hour away from us and hit The Oracle shopping mall.

Rings from Republic

Barry M - Gold Mine
Rimmel - 001 Dazzle Dust

No 7 Stay Perfect Foundation in Calico

Lily-Flame candle in Blush from John Lewis
Overall it wasn't a massive buying session as the MAC vouchers I had were for Debenhams only not House of Fraser which was a pain but that just means I get to go shopping again. Everyone's a winner.

Thanks for reading,

Ciaté Advent Calendar 1st - 4th December

Hi Everyone,

A few weeks I managed to get my mitts on the Ciaté Mini Mani Month Advent Calendar from QVC. The box contains 17 of their best selling polishes, 4 caviar bottles and 3 colours exclusive to the calendar. All bottles are 5ml with the signature black bow.

It's been tough not to open all the windows at once but I managed without having to ask my boyfriend to hide it!

I've not tried Ciaté polishes before. The formula is quite thin which tends to dry quickly so be careful to apply even coats. I've only had the polishes on for a day so I can't comment on wear but the brushes are great for quick and easy application. Standard size paint pots are 13.5ml and usually around £9.00. Caviar sets are £18.00.

L-R Prom Queen, A Dangerous Affair & Halo

First up we have Cupcake Queen.
Unfortunately, my littler sister squealed at me the second she set eyes on this and then ran off with it so I haven't got any pictures to show you.

It's almost a hot pink polish with a blue shimmer running through it. Not really a colour I would normally wear so it's definately been stolen by the right person.

Secondly we have A Dangerous Affair. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw this little beaut.

A Dangerous Affair
Since taking this photo, the polish has darkened, It's more of a red wine colour and I love it.

Next we have Halo.

Halo

I've applied just one coat in the photo as I felt it was probably more of a top coat than a polish to wear on it's own. This is a pearlescent polish with pink, purple and blue bits in depending on the light.

Top - A Dangerous Affair
Bottom - A Dangerous Affair with Halo as top coat

Behind door number 4 we have Prom Queen a small bottle of the caviar effect beads. This one has Navy, Hot Pink and Silver metallic balls and also Hot Pink and Silver hexagonal pieces. I have never had a Caviar manicure before and was so excited to have a go. It's incredibly easy too. The kit came with a small funnel to put any excess bits back in the bottle so no wastage. I only did one nail but it's so pretty.

There you have it. If you've got this far, thank you for reading and please let me know what you think below.

Following on from my Pay Day Polish post here, as promised, I have uploaded a picture of Watermelon.

Please excuse the dodgy paint job, I quickly did them on my lunch break!

Have a good afternoon everyone :)
